Hello
Mike Fuchs for Clarence School Board
I am excited to announce my intention to run for another term on the Board of Education. Representing this community over the last twelve years as a BOE Trustee; including several years as Vice President and President; has been an honor and a privilege.
When I first ran for the Board in 2012, the district was showing signs of fiscal stress with numerous cuts to programs and staffing. I had hoped to bring my professional experiences to the BOE to help address the financial challenges facing the district.
I am proud of the work we have done since my election in 2012 and the low point after the 2013 budget defeat. More than 30 positions have been restored, academic and athletic program offerings have been expanded, the Family Support Center was launched, two capital projects were approved including the new athletics fields, fiscal reserves were replenished and most importantly; student performance has improved. All of this has been accomplished while staying at or below the tax cap each year and providing Clarence residents with one of the most cost-efficient districts in NYS.
Despite all that has been accomplished, there remains much hard work ahead.
-
We musty continue to work to close the academic gaps created by the pandemic and enhance our social and emotional support to students, staff, and the community.
-
We must stay focused on the fiscal stability of the District as we head into uncertain economic times at both the state and federal levels.
-
We must continue to strive as a district and community to build on the strong foundation we have in place and ensure that the Clarence Schools remain the premier school system in Western NY.
I am so appreciative of the support that I have received over the years and would be humbled to earn your vote once again to serve you for another term.
Thank you,
Mike
